1. Enable participants to exemplify the traits of a leader throughout their careers.
   a) Gain the knowledge, display the skills and focus on the abilities that correlate with leadership.
   b) Encourage collaboration among participants.
   
2. Cultivate an environment of support and camaraderie for the leadership institute cohort.
   a) Incorporate team-building activities.
   b) Encourage all to participate in group discussions or offer a venue for feedback.
   
3. Keep alumni involved in the years to come by creating mentoring relationships within each cohort per year.
   a) Poll participants for interest in the long-term commitment.
   b) Create a communications plan to keep alumni abreast of activities and maintain engagement.
