Commonwealth’s new primary banking institution is JP Morgan Chase.
The information below should help you with questions you may have related to the transition.
How does this change affect me?
While the transition to Chase will impact where payroll and travel reimbursement payments originate, the transition will have little impact on state employees. Beginning July 15, 2011, paychecks will originate from Chase. You can continue to receive a paper check or direct deposit to a local financial institution, just as in the past.
Will the change to Chase delay access to funds?
No. Checks will continue to be issued on the 15th and 30th of each month. The availability of direct deposit funds remains unchanged. You are encouraged to check with your individual financial institution regarding the deposit of paper checks, as each institution has its own policies related to the clearance and availability of funds.
What can I do to simplify the check-cashing process?
Sign up for direct deposit through KHRIS. It will save time and money! For more information on how to set up direct deposit, employees are encouraged to work directly with their agency/cabinet Human Resource Administrator.
Where do I go for more information?
Additional up-to-date information will be made available on this page. You may also contact the Personnel Cabinet’s Department of Human Resources Administration directly at 502-564-7571 or your Human Resource Administrator.
Please Note:
All checks can be cashed the day after they are “printed” once the file has been uploaded to Chase. This isn’t a problem for payroll checks as they are printed several days in advance of payday, but this should be noted for other checks such as travel reimbursements, child support or other checks.
If you have trouble cashing a payroll check at a Chase branch, you may contact your branch manager.
