Workplace Wellness

It is well documented that the work environment impacts employee performance and productivity.

One way managers and supervisors can positively influence the work environment is by supporting workplace wellness.

Below are a few ways you can get your employees engaged in wellness:

Invite your agency’s coalition member to come to a staff meeting.

If you don’t know who your coalition member is, you can view the Wellness Coalition list here. Your coalition member can provide an overview about HumanaVitality and update you on wellness activities planned for your agency and statewide.

Give your employees some information about the new HumanaVitality program.

HumanaVitality is a part of the health plan for KEHP members. KEHP members are rewarded through HumanaVitality for making healthier choices, like receiving preventive screenings, exercising regularly and quitting smoking. View Frequently Asked Questions about HumanaVitality here.

Consider sharing your Vitality Age and any steps you are taking toward wellness.

As part of an initial health assessment process, HumanaVitality members will receive their Vitality Age™ based on their current age and current health status. The Vitality Age indicates how fast their bodies are aging based on previous health choices. If their Vitality Age is greater than their actual age, HumanaVitality members receive tools for reducing their Vitality Age.

Did you know Kentucky ranks near the top of the list for smoking, obesity and diabetes?

Through annual checkups and screenings, employees can reverse these trends. Find out more here.

Share information with your employees about the Vitality Check.

The Vitality Check® is a blood screening and biometric assessment that measures body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, blood glucose and total cholesterol. It provides an assessment of an individual's basic health and offers valuable insight into health risks. Employees can get a Vitality Check at no cost to them at one of the following: Concentra® Medical Centers, Walgreen’s Take Care Clinics, Kroger Little Clinics, any of the four Frankfort First Onsite Clinics, their local health department or doctors’ offices (a copay may be required at doctors’ offices).  To see the Concentra locations and instructions, click here. HumanaVitality members can earn up to 4,000 Vitality Points™ for completing their Vitality Check.

Conduct Healthy Meetings.

If you are planning a meeting, you want it to be successful. And key to your success is setting an environment that allows participants to function at their very best. View the American Cancer Society’s Meeting Well Guide for tips on the types of food and activities to make your event an energized success!

Encourage employees to share their wellness successes.

You can encourage your employees to share their stories with your office and others. It will not only help them stay focused on their goals but give others inspiration as well.
