Now that you are working towards a healthier you, it's important to reward yourself along the way. Rewards - something that does not involve eating - will help you stay motivated and focused.
Determine milestones that you feel will reinforce your goals. Then find rewards for those milestones that will keep you motivated. Short-term goals with rewards are shown to have a greater impact on increasing motivation. The key is to find what works best for you.
Rewards may include a spa treatment, shopping trip, a movie, a new book or cd, workout gear, doing something fun with someone you enjoy being with, or doing something you have always wanted to try like dancing, hiking, canoeing, etc. The possibilities are limited only by your creativity!
So, if the self-confidence and improved health just aren't quite enough reward to keep you motivated and on track, set short-term goals and reward yourself along the way! |
