Success Stories

The Benton's Story

Joshua Benton, who works for the Cabinet for Economic Development, and his wife Emily traveled to Ethiopia in July 2010 to bring Silas home.  “My wife and I have a heart for the worldwide orphan crisis.  Knowing that there are now 160 million orphans minus one brings our family a tremendous amount of joy.  It is especially encouraging to work for an organization that is supportive of growing families through adoption and that also seeks to reduce the number of orphans, one child at a time,” he said.

The Beard's Story

Gregory and Rebecca Beard adopted twin brothers Roman and Aleksey from Russia. They are now seven. “The adoption was a big step in our family’s life,” Rebecca says.  “Knowing you can take off work and be gone due to court hearings, travel and paperwork does take some stress off of you. Adoptions are extremely stressful and any help you can get goes a long way.”

The Tucker's Story
Joe Tucker, who is employed with the Transportation Cabinet and a member of the Army Reserves, and his wife Sam adopted Adrienne as a newborn. “The staff in the Personnel Cabinet was very helpful in answering all of our questions and making sure that we had all the proper paperwork for the Adoption Benefit.  We are very thankful that the state of Kentucky realizes the importance of adoption and is willing to assist with the financial burden that adoptive families experience.  Thank you for helping us to become a forever family,” Sam said.
