Green Team Kentucky Online Film Festival
It started out as a vision of First Lady Jane Beshear but turned into an incredible opportunity for Kentuckians all across the state. The First Annual Green Team Kentucky Online Film Festival was an absolute success. Seventy films were entered and the “directors” ranged from groups of school kids, Girl and Boy Scout troops, to seasoned filmmakers. Each of the videos was entered into one of three categories:
- A 30-second public service announcement that encourages Kentuckians to reduce their energy consumption;
- A short film of 10 minutes or less that highlights environmentally friendly, energy-saving actions that anyone can and should perform; and
- A short film of 10 minutes or less that presents an invention, new device or new idea that would help reduce energy consumption in Kentucky.
The public was given a chance to vote on their favorites. With nearly 5,000 votes cast, the top 10 videos in each of the three categories were chosen and can be seen here. Winners will be announced during the first anniversary of Mrs. Beshear’s launch of the Green Team initiative. The winning film in each category will receive a $1,000 cash prize, sponsored by the Louisville Film Society.

"I was using up to six plastic sandwich bags for my children’s daily lunches. I now use washable plastic containers instead of plastic bags."
