Sharon White received the Leadership Award for her advocacy on behalf of black deaf students who graduated from the Kentucky School for the Deaf between 1930 and 1955 and were denied diplomas because of their race. As a result, 75 individuals were identified to receive diplomas at a special ceremony. Read about the other GAA recipients.
