Career Opportunities
Did You Know?

Testing is no longer conducted by the Division of Career Opportunities and was discontinued in May 2008. However, testing for certain positions can be agency specific and at the discretion and/or request of the hiring agency. Applicants should contact the ‘agency contact’ listed on the job posting if testing is designated as required.

  • On July 1, the Division of Career Opportunities implemented changes to the HR status (job submission status) and general business practices. Applicants may view definitions of these statuses by logging into their COS account and clicking on the following link under ‘job submission status’: http://personnel.ky.gov/employment/definitions/.  As a result of these changes, agencies should receive their registers much quicker.

  • Applicants may obtain agency contact and other associated information related to a job vacancy by logging into their COS account and clicking on the resume/CV manager link. Once accessed, simply click on view submissions to view the desired information.

  • There is an applicant computer lab located on the 1st floor of the State Office Building located at 501 High Street Frankfort, KY 40601. Here, applicants may receive basic assistance in submitting their COS applications from a representative of the Division of Career Opportunities. However, it is not necessary to complete and/or submit the application from the Personnel computer lab. The application may be accessed and submitted via any computer with Internet access.

  • Applicants may request copies of previously submitted (hard copy) applications to use as a guide in completing their Web-based COS application by any of the following means:

MAIL: Copies of submitted applications and updates may be requested by printing and completing an application request form (can be obtained at the State Office Building location in Frankfort or from the forms library section of the Personnel Cabinet Web site homepage) and mailing it to the following address:
