Training and Development - HR Staff/COS

DHRA and the Division of Career Opportunities (DCO) are proud to offer the following Career Opportunities System (COS) training to agency HR staff. These courses are available through the Kentucky Enterprise Learning Management System (KELMS).

To enroll, please contact your agency training liaison.

Prerequisite course:

Information, Security, Training, Education, Policies/Procedures (iSTEP) Portal

In accordance with Personnel Cabinet policy and the need to ensure awareness of the Personal Information Security and Breach Investigation procedures and Practices Act (KRS 61.931), the Personnel Cabinet requires that training be completed through the Information, Security, Training, Education, Policies/Procedures (iSTEP) Portal before any user access request is submitted. Additionally, the same training is required annually in order to maintain access.

Upon completing the full course, an email will be automatically sent to the Agency Security Contact (ASC), notifying them that iSTEP has been completed and that any pending access request may be submitted by the ASC to the Personnel Cabinet for processing.

NOTE: Completion of iSTEP will permit a user access request for COS to be granted, however; should the training requirement for the particular agency level user type not be met within the given timeframe, access WILL BE REVOKED.

Career Opportunities System (COS) Courses

COS Training for Agency Level 1 and Agency Level 2 User Types

          • COS Basics of Navigation for Agency Level 1 and Agency Level 2 User Types (Online)

This is an introductory online course and is a pre-requisite to the Career Opportunities System (COS) Instructor Led Training Course for Agency Level 1 and 2 User Types. This online course is specifically designed for new Agency Level 1, Agency Level 1 eLink, Agency Level 2 and Agency Level 2 eLink user types in the Career Opportunities System (COS) and will cover the basics of navigation for the system.

After completing this online course, please inform your agency training liaison so they can register you to attend the COS Instructor Led Training Class.

NOTE: Completion of this online course, in conjunction with enrolling to attend the COS Instructor Led Training, is mandatory for Agency Level 1 and Agency Level 2 User Types and must be completed within 30 days of receiving access to COS, otherwise access will be revoked.

          • COS – Agency Level 1 and 2 Users Types (Instructor Led Training)

The COS classroom-based course is designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills needed to navigate through COS as well as to perform any related business processes. Estimated class length is 4.0 hours and is intended for the following user types: Agency Level 1 eLink, Agency Level 1, Agency Level 2 eLink, and Agency Level 2 user types. Users are required to complete the online Basics of Navigation before attending this course.

NOTE: Enrollment in this instructor led course, in conjunction with completing the online Basics of Navigation course is mandatory or Agency Level 1 and Agency Level 2 User Types and must be completed within 30 days of receiving access to COS, otherwise access will be revoked.

     

COS – Agency Level 3 and Agency Level 3 eLink User Types (Online)

This is an online course designed to provide new Agency Level 3 and Agency Level 3 eLink user types with the basic knowledge and skills needed to navigate through COS as well as to perform any related business processes.

NOTE: This course is required and must be completed within 30 days of receiving access to COS, otherwise access will be revoked.

COS – Agency Level 4 User Types (Online)

This is an online course designed to provide new Agency Level 4 user types with the basic knowledge and skills needed to navigate through COS as well as guidance regarding any related business processes.

NOTE: This course is required and must be completed within 30 days of receiving access to COS, otherwise access will be revoked.
