Please click here ​regarding requests for records as maintained by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet, pursuant to KRS 18A.020, and/or to request removal of a written reprimand from the official personnel file as maintained by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet, pursuant to 101 KAR 1:335 Section 5. The Office of Legal Services will process all requests.

In conjunction with the Office of the State Budget Director (OSBD), the Personnel Cabinet is actively involved in the review and finalization of agency reorganizations. This includes implementing the resulting changes within the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS). As part of implementation, the Personnel Cabinet also maintains organizational charts which depict each agency's current hierarchy/structure.

If you have questions pertaining to your Kentucky Employees' Health Plan coverage or benefits, you can contact the Department of Employee Insurance at 502.564.6534. 


The Personnel Cabinet will gladly provide or process a request for employment verification. We offer two types of verification: Verbal and Written.

Verbal Verification
The Personnel Cabinet limits the type of information that may be provided through a verbal verification, as follows:
  • Hire Date
  • Employment Status (active/withdrawn)
  • Separation Date (if applicable)
  • Job Classification
  • Position Type (full-time, part-time)
  • Confirmation of Salary provided by the Employee

Written Verification
Requests for written verification may be sent, along with a signed employee consent form, to:

Due to the volume of requests, we recommend that for payroll questions and W-2 reprints that state employees contact their agency's HR Administrator. If you require further assistance, we would be happy to help you at 502.564.7571.

For prior employees, please contact your agency HR office (where you were last employed) to request a reprint. For your security, your identity must be verified before a request will be processed. Please be prepared to verify personal information and provide a copy of (or present in person at time of pick-up) your driver's license or other photo ID.

The Personnel Cabinet ombudsman serves as a liaison and resource for employees and agencies across state government in need of information or guidance. While specific expertise lies in human resource practices, a wide range of questions or needs can be addressed by the ombudsman.

The ombudsman will respond to inquiries and provide resources or options, facilitate meetings or other forms of communication, help guide solutions to concerns that may arise, and recommend actions or changes to existing procedures.

The ombudsman is not necessarily an advocate for either employees or management, but rather provides objective advice in an informal and impartial fashion.  However, the ombudsman does not provide legal advice or counseling.​

Thank you for your interest in offering a discount to Kentucky state ​employees! We are no longer accepting requests from vendors that are exclusively online. Online vendors already on the site are not affected by the policy at this time but may be subject to removal in the future.

Appropriate offers of discounts may be communicated to state employees through a posting on extranet.personnel.ky.gov. In order to be appropriate, an offer of a discount:
  • Must not compete with any existing state program;
  • Must be available to all state employees; and,
  • Must relate to appropriate products and or services.

For example, the offer, products or services must not: be unlawful; be fraudulent or predatory in nature; promote or glorify hatred, violence, or intolerance; be pornographic and/or sexual in nature, etc. The above list is not exhaustive. The Commonwealth reserves the right to refuse to post any and all offers of discount at any time, and to discontinue the employee discount website altogether. If permitted to post a discount on the website, this permission shall not be viewed as a state contract.
